Faith Dickerson only allowed three hits in her seven innings on the mound but she also gave up seven walks.
The Boilermakers scored once in the first inning and tacked on three more in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.
Purdue (10-6) added another run in the sixth.
Destiny Beckham had two of the three Savannah State hits.
Purdue left nine runners on base while SSU (0-10) made two errors while leaving six runners on base.
Kaitlynn Moody struck out 12 batters for Purdue while Jenny Behan hit a solo home run.
