Lampkin Scores 16 in Loss to Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md..- Ta'Quasia Lampkin came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points but Savannah State would fall to Morgan State 63-47 in a game played at Hill Field House.

Savannah State trailed 44-42 after three quarters of play but Morgan State out-scored the Lady Tigers 19-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Leading 46-44 with 8:35 left Morgan State scored 11 unanswered points to expand their lead to 57-44 with 5:31 remaining.

A 3-pointer by Le'Andrea Gillis at the 5:14 mark got SSU within 10 but the Lady Tigers would be held scoreless the rest of the way.

Jacquece Alston was the only other Savannah State player in double figures with 10 points. Jalea Gray had nine rebounds for SSU (3-8, 1-1 MEAC).

Morgan State led 12-10 after the first quarter and 28-26 at intermission.

In the fourth quarter the Bears out-scored SSU 18-0 in the paint while shooting 69.2 percent from the field.

Savannah State finished the game shooting 28.6 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the arc and 43.5 percent from the free throw line.

Adre'onia Coleman led Morgan State (3-13, 1-1 MEAC) with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

The Bears shot 41.8 percent from the floor and 63 percent from the free throw line. Morgan State missed all 11 of their 3-point attempts.

Both teams had 40 rebounds.
