ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Savannah State University (14-23) dropped both games at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Championship Thursday to finish the season.
The south No. 3 seed Lady Tigers fell to the south No. 1 seed Bethune-Cookman University 3-2 and then turned around and fell to south No. 4 seed North Carolina Central University 1-0.
Senior right fielder
Shelby Eccles batted .400 (2-for-5) with a run scored, while junior first baseman
Elizabeth Humes and
Cortni Jones each batted .333 (2-for-6) in both games. As a team, the Lady Tigers posted a 0.57 ERA in both games, holding the opponents to a .206 batting average.

Drea Lesure recorded an RBI and Eccles and Jones each scored a run. On the mound, senior pitcher
Amanda Hallman (8-10) picked up the loss in a complete game giving up three runs, one earned on six hits.
Bethune-Cookman scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to break a scoreless tie after an error with two outs that allowed the inning to continue with the game scoreless. After the error, BCU scored a run on single through the left side and a double that bounced off the pitcher to score another run for a 2-0 lead.
But Savannah State kept clawing back scoring a run in the sixth inning after Humes doubled to left center to drive home Jones from first to cut the lead to 2-1 and tied the game in the seventh inning after Lesure's RBI sacrifice fly that scored Eccles from second base after the center fielder slipped trying to throw the ball back to the infield.
However, the Wildcats scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning after an error allowed the winning run to score from third base.
The Wildcats were led by Mariah Davis going 2-for-4 with an RBI and on the mound, Destiny Enriquez (8-7) picked up the win in relief pitching the last 1.2 innings giving up one run on one hit.

Tanisha Williams (4-4) picked up the loss in a complete game giving up one unearned run on four hits with four strikeouts.
Savannah State had chances to score a run early in the game, but couldn't manage to score a run. In the first inning, the Lady Tigers had runners on second and third with two outs, but a fly out to left field ended the inning.
North Carolina Central scored the only run in the game in the bottom of the second inning after an error with two outs allowed the run to score from third base.
In the third inning, the Lady Tigers had runners on second and third with two outs, but a pop out ended the inning.
The Eagles were led by Dalika Wallace going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while on the mound, Courtney Mirabella (17-15) pitched a shutout complete game giving up three hits.
