Maxwell Scores 17 In Loss To Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss.- Azhana Maxwell scored 17 points in Savannah State's 74-51 loss at Ole Miss in a game played at The Pavilion.

The crowd of 1,151 saw the freshman from Lithonia, Georgia make five of nine of her 3-point shots in addition to grabbing five rebounds, dishing out three assists and getting two steals.

Robbi Allen,a freshman from Nashville, North Carolina, added 15 points, four assists and three rebounds.

In the first quarter, Ole Miss had runs of 11-2 and 9-0 as they jumped out to a 20-5 advantage. The Rebels led 20-7 after one quarter of play.

SSU (2-5) began the second quarter with a 7-3 spurt to close their gap to 23-14 with 8:26 showing as as Allen hit a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer.

Ole Miss answered with 15 straight points to expand their lead to 38-14 with 3:57 left.

The Lady Tigers finished the period outscoring the Rebels 9-4 as Maxwell hit a 3-pointer, Heniaya Moton made four free throws and Jabrekia Bass made a layup.

Ole Miss led 42-23 at intermission.

In the third quarter Savannah State had a 7-2 advantage in points off turnovers and a 5-0 edge in second chance points as they outscored the Rebels 15-12.
