SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State improved to 2-0 with a 101-48 win over Carver College in a game played at Tiger Arena.

The Lady Tigers led 24-8 after the first quarter of play and held a 43-23 advantage at the half.

Savannah State scored the first eight points of the game and used a 10-1 run to grab a 18-4 lead with 2:22 left in the first quarter. In the second quarter, SSU led by as many as 22 points.

SSU shot 66.7 percent from the field in the third quarter. They closed the quarter with a 9-3 spurt as they expanded their advantage to 70-40.

Carver was out-scored 31-9 in the fourth quarter as three of their six players fouled out. Â The Cougars played the final 2:21 with four players and the final 1:17 with only three players on the court.

The Lady Tigers used their size to out-score Carver 10-0 in the paint in the final quarter.

Alexxus Bryant had a double-double for Savannah State with 15 rebounds and 10 points.

Myasia Jones led SSU with 19 points followed by Jacquee Alston who had15 points and
Jalea Gray and
Azhana Maxwell who scored 11 points apiece.

Savannah State shot 43 percent from the field while holding Carver to 25.9 percent.

The Lady Tigers out-rebounded their visitors from Atlanta, 62 to 31 and forced Carver to make 30 turnovers.

Nancy Jonathan and Khashami Smith had 13 points each for Carver (0-1).
