SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University softball team (4-36, 4-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes the series sweep against South Carolina State University (2-38, 2-12 MEAC) with a 7-3 win in the season finale Sunday at the Lady Tiger Softball Field Sunday on Senior Day.
 
Senior right fielder 
Alexis Singleton batted 4-for-4 with two runs scored, while junior center fielder 
Shelby Eccles went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and senior left fielder 
Chasney Jenkins added two RBIs.  On the mound, senior pitcher 
Amanda McDowell pitched a complete game giving up three runs on six hits with 12 strikeouts. 
 
Singleton batted .818 (9-for-11) with six runs scored, a double, two triples and four RBIs in the three games against SCSU, while McDowell recorded a 2-0 record with an ERA of 1.75 giving up three runs on eight hits in 12.0 innings pitched with 20 strikeouts. 
 
Savannah State broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the first inning after scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead.  Singleton started the inning with a double down the left field line and Eccles singled to the pitcher to advance Singleton to third and scored on an error by the pitcher to take a 1-0 lead.  Eccles stole second and Harris singled and advanced to second. 
 
Sophomore third baseman 
Cortni Jones walked to load the bases with one out and Jenkins hit a sacrifice fly to left field to drive home Eccles for a 2-0 lead, but a pop out to the second baseman ended the inning.
 
The Lady Tigers scored two more runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead after the third.  After a fly out to start the inning, sophomore first baseman 
Elizabeth Humes singled to third base on a beautiful placed bunt.  Humes stole second and Jones singled to the shortstop to move Humes over to third and scored on an error by the first baseman, which allowed Jones to move to second for a 3-0 lead.  After a fly out for the second out, Jones advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error by the pitcher for a 4-0 lead.  A fly out to center field ended the inning.
 
Savannah State added three runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead after the fourth.  McDowell started the inning with a single up the middle and advanced the second and to third on two wild pitches.  Freshman designated player 
Alysha Bolling groundout to the first baseman to drive home McDowell for a 5-0 lead.  Singleton singled up the middle and stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.  Eccles reached on an error by the third baseman to allow Singleton to score for a 6-0 lead and Eccles stole second.
 
After a fly out for the second out to advance Eccles to third, Humes walked and stole second.  Jones followed up with a four-pitch walk to load the bases and Jenkins walked on five pitches to drive home Eccles for a 7-0 lead, but a fly out to center field ended the inning.
 
South Carolina State added a run in the fifth inning after a solo home run to center field to cut the lead to 7-1 and added another solo home run in the sixth inning after another solo home run this time to left field to cut the lead to 7-2. 
 
The Bulldogs scored the final run in the seventh inning after an RBI double down the left field line to cut the final deficit to four runs.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Jada Richardson going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Megan Prunty went 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI.  On the mound, Jada Lake (3-17) picked up the loss in a complete game giving up five earned runs on 10 hits.
