BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Savannah State University softball team (0-10) fell to the University of Tulsa (3-4) 4-1 Saturday on Day Two of the "Strike-Out Cancer" Tournament at FAU Stadium.
 
Sophomore Cortni Jones went 2-for-3 and scored the only run, while sophomore pitcher Faith Dickerson went 1-for-2 with an RBI.  On the mound, Dickerson pitched a complete game giving up three earned runs on six hits.
 
Tulsa broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with two runs on an RBI walk and a wild pitch to score a run to take a 2-0 lead.  The Golden Hurricane added two runs in the fifth inning after an RBI double and an RBI single to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Savannah State scored its only run in the fifth inning after Dickerson's RBI single to score Jones, who started the inning with a double to left center to cut the final deficit to three runs.
 
The Lady Tigers had a chance to add some runs in the seventh inning.  After a groundout to start the inning, Jones singled and senior designated player Amanda McDowell singled and advanced on a throwing error to put runners on second and third with one out.  A strikeout and a pop up to second base ended the inning and the game. 
 
The Golden Hurricane was led by Shelby Estocado going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.  On the mound, Haley Meinen (1-0) picked up the win going 6.1 innings giving up one run on six hits, while Lexi Blevins picked up her first save of the season pitching the last 0.2 shutout innings. 
 
The Lady Tigers finish with the University of Toledo at 11:15 a.m. and host Florida Atlantic University at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
