SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (6-15, 3-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) came up short against Morgan State University (9-12, 7-2 MEAC) 66-60 in three overtimes in Tiger Arena Saturday afternoon.
 
Junior Tiyonda Davis set a career-high with 21 rebounds and added 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting with three blocks.  Her previous career-high was 16 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore in last season MEAC Championship game on March 14, 2015. 
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix led SSU with 23 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the floor, including 4-for-10 from the 3-point line, and added five rebounds with three assists, while junior forward Caprisha Treadwell added career-highs with eight points and nine rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. 
 
Hendrix's four made 3-pointers gives her 123 career made and needs three made 3-points to move into second place in school history in the Division I era and gives her 42 made 3-pointers on the season, which moves her into a tie for third most in school history in a single season.
 
The Lady Tigers held Morgan State to shooting percentage of .194 in the first half, while SSU shot .261. SSU shot .379 in the second half and held the Lady Bears to a shooting percentage of .267.
 
The Lady Bears scored five of the first seven points to start the game to capture a three-point lead, 5-2, with 8:44 remaining in the first quarter, but a Davis layup cut the lead to a point, 5-4, with 7:00 remaining.  MSU scored the next four points to increase its lead to five, 11-6, at the 4:44 mark, but the Lady Tigers scored six of the next seven points to lead by a point, 12-11, with 1:06 left.  A MSU free throw tied the score at 12 after one quarter of play.  Davis led SSU with four points on 2-for-2 shooting with four rebounds during the opening quarter.
 
A Lady Bear 3-point to begin the second quarter gave the Lady Bears a three-point lead 15-12, with 7:59 remaining in the quarter, but the Lady Tigers scored five of the next seven points to tie the game at 17 with 4:38 left in the first half.  After two MSU made free throws to take a two-point lead, 19-17, at the 3:10 mark, the Lady Tigers scored the next four points to take a two-point lead, 21-19 heading into the locker rooms, including a sophomore guard Deyja Brown jumper as time expired.  Hendrix led SSU with nine points, while Davis added 11 rebounds and six points through the first half.
 
The Lady Bears scored the first two points to begin the third quarter to tie the game at 21 with 7:51 remaining in the quarter.  With the scored tied at 25 with 5:33 remaining, the Lady Bears scored the next six points to capture a six-point lead, 31-25, at the 3:56 mark.  A Davis layup cut the lead to four points, 31-27, with 3:25 left, but MSU scored five of the final seven points to lead by seven points, 36-29, after three quarters of play. 
 
The Lady Tigers opened the fourth quarter scoring 10 of the first 12 points to take a point lead, 39-38, with 5:37 remaining in the quarter.  After a three-pointer by MSU to take a two-point lead, 41-39, at the 4:54 mark, the Lady Tigers scored eight of the next 14 points to take a two-point lead, 47-45, with 41 second left, but MSU tied the game with 29 seconds to force overtime.  Davis led SSU with 19 rebounds and added eight points, while Hendrix added 18 points and five rebounds after regulation.
 
A junior guard Rhianna Warren jumper started the scoring in the first overtime to capture a two-point lead, 49-47, but the Lady Bears tied it up at 49 with 3:25 remaining after a layup and took a three-point lead, 52-49, at the 2:44 mark after a three-pointer.  Hendrix responded with a three-point to tie the game at 52 with 2:24 left and neither team scored in the final 2:24 of the first overtime period to keep the scored tied at 52 heading into the second overtime.
 
A Davis layup to start the second overtime gave SSU a two-point lead, 54-52, with 4:39 remaining, but a MSU layup tied the game at 54 with 4:17 left and took a two-point lead, 56-54, at the 2:58 mark after two made free throws.  A Treadwell jumper tied the game at 58 with 1:52 left and neither team scored in the final 1:52 to keep the game tied at 58 to head to the third overtime.
 
The Lady Bears scored the first eight points of the third overtime to take an eight-point lead, 66-58, with 1:15 remaining, but a Hendrix layup with 17 seconds cut MSU's lead to final margin of six points.
 
The Lady Bears were led by Braennan Farrar with 26 points and added four rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Tykyrah Williams added 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals and Zuri White added nine rebounds and six points.
 
The Lady Tigers finish the two-game homestand against Coppin State (7-13, 4-4 MEAC) Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.  CSU fell to South Carolina State 67-63 in Orangeburg, S.C., on Saturday.
