Savannah State Track and Field Athletes Qualify For NCAA Regionals

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State Outdoor Track and Field team will send multiple athletes, competing in several events to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round to be held at the University of North Florida, May 24-26.

For the Lady Tigers, senior Amara Jones qualified for the 200 and 400 meter dashes. She is ranked 12th overall in the 200m with a time of 23.26, and 8th in the 400m with a time of 52.43. Jones set both times at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.

The Savannah State team of Aleah Hordges, Jazy Seay-Blane, Chavonta Roberts and Jones qualified for the 4x400 meter relay with a 13th place in the East and a time of 3:37.27. The team set the qualifying time at the MEAC Championship earlier this month.

For the men, the 4x100 meter relay team of Darius Baker, Chazwyn Price, Cameron Hall and Gregory Terrell will represent Savannah State in 15th place in the East with a time of 40.10. They qualified for the post-season last weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Savannah State has qualified for the NCAA Regionals every year since becoming Division I, and has had over 30 athletes qualify for the post-season event.
