SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State softball team ended their 2010 season with a 5-3 win over South Carolina State at the Paulson Complex.
SSU ends the season with a 18-23 mark, the most wins in school history in a single season.
Freshman
Madison Hedderly did the most damage for the Lady Tigers, hitting a two-run home run at the plate and striking out six batters on the mound.
South Carolina State took the early lead with runs in the first, third and fourth innings for a 3-0 advantage.
SSU struck back in the bottom of the fourth on Hedderly's home run to cut their deficit to 3-2.
Savannah State added three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Shamyra Adams reached on an error and stole second. A single by
Alexis Carson allowed Adams to score.
Jennifer Katzman reached on a fielder's choice and
Brittney Lollis singled.
Tiffany Taylor's single scored Katzman and a popup by Hedderly allowed Lollis to score the final run of the game as well as season.
Lollis and Hedderly had two hits apiece. Lollis scored twice and Hedderly drove in two runs.
Tonya and sonya Giles each had two hits for SCSU. Raven Johnson took the loss, giving up seven hits and five runs.
