TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Amanda Reyes pitched both games in a double-header between Savannah State and Florida A&M and struck out 23 batters as the Rattlers swept SSU 6-0 and 7-2 at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
Reyes hurled a one hitter in game one while striking out 13 and threw a two-hitter in the second contest and struck out 10.
In the first game, FAMU scored once in the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead. The Rattlers went ahead 4-0 with two runs in the third and closed out the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs for a 6-0 advantage.
Brittany Wilson had the lone hit for Savannah State.
Madison Hedderly took the loss. Hedderly pitched six innings and struck out five.
Joyce Harold hit a home run for the Rattlers.
In the second game, FAMU broke open a scoreless game with six runs in the fourth inning. The Rattlers added a run in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.
Savannah State (17-21) got on the scoreboard in the sixth as
Tiffany Taylor's double drove in
Cassie Standard and
Jennifer Katzman . Standard ran for
Amber Wright, who singled, and Katzman was hit by a pitch.
Standard took the loss on the mound for SSU.
Joyce drove in three runs for FAMU (23-20).
