SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Madison Hedderly picked up a pair of wins on the mound as Savannah State swept South Carolina State 4-1 and 2-0 at the Paulson Complex.
Hedderly pitched a four-hitter in the opener and yielded five hits and struck out six in the second game.
SSU improved to 17-19 while the Bulldogs fell to 6-30.
South Carolina State took an early lead in the first game but SSU tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning when
Jessica Weimerskirk reached base on a fielder's choice and scored on a double by
Alexis Carson.
The Lady Tigers put SCSU away with three runs in the sixth.
Brittany Wilson and
Jennifer Katzman doubled.
Crystal Williams pinch ran for Wilson and Williams and Katzman scored following a double by Carson. A single by
Brittney Lollis allowed Carson to score.
Lollis and Carson had three hits for SSU and Carson drove in three runs.
Denitia Carter had a pair of hits for the Bulldogs.
In the second game, Carson had a RBI single in the second inning and Lollis had a RBI in the fifth for all the scoring they would need.
Tiffany Taylor and Hedderly had two hits each for SSU.
Taylor-Anne Harris had two hits for South Carolina State in the loss.
