SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State lost a double-header to Florida A&M by scores of 6-0 and 7-3 in games played at Minick Park.
In the opener,
Madison Hedderly pitched a complete game and struck out six batters while giving up seven hits and six runs for SSU.
The Lady Tigers left eight runners on base but were unable to score.
FAMU led 2-0 after three innings but scored three in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.
Six different SSU players had a hit for SSU.
Erika Garcia had three hits and drove in two runs for FAMU while Amanda Reyes struck out six batters.
In the second game, FAMU scored once in the first but Savannah State took the lead in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs.
The Rattlers added two runs in the third for a 3-2 lead but SSU tied the game at three with a run in the fifth.
Florida A&M broke open a close game with four runs in the eighth to get the victory.
The game was marred by errors as FAMU made seven and Savannah State made four.
SSU (12-15) left nine runners on base in the game.
Tiffany Taylor had two singles for the Lady Tigers. Hedderly pitched eight innings and struck out eight batters.
Garcia had two hits and four RBIs for FAMU at the plate while Jennifer Lindsey pitched two inning in relief to earn the win.
