SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior Zach Otto of the Savannah State University men's golf team leads the entire field of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship after the first day with a two-stroke lead after shooting a three-under par 69 at Crosswinds Golf Club Thursday.

The Dodge Center, Minn., native shot recorded six straight pars to open the round before recording his first on the seventh hole before falling back to even par on the eighth hole.  But, Otto birdied ninth and 10th hole to go two-under par and recorded seven consecutive pars before birding the 18th hole.

Freshman Trey Odom finished the day tied for 14^th with a four-over par 76, while freshman Matt Thoms finished tied for 21^st with a six-over par 78. 
 
Sophomore Jaden Thiemann finished tied for 25^th with an eight-over par 80 and freshman Matt Turner finished 30^th with a score of 82. 
 
As a team, Savannah State is fourth with a score of 15-over par 303, two strokes behind Bethune-Cookman University for third place. 
 
Prince Cunningham of Florida A&M University is second behind Otto after shooting a one-under par 71, while FAMU and Augusta University are tied at four-over par 292. 
 
The second round continues Friday at 7:30 a.m.
