JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Savannah State got their start to a five game road swing off to a rough start, suffering a 7-1 setback to North Florida, at a game played at Harmon Stadium.
The non-conference loss extended the Tigers losing skid to eight games as they dropped to 5-22 overall.
The Ospreys scored four times in the first inning as Blake Voyles hit a two-run double and Chris Matthias hit a two-run home run.
Savannah State scored their only run in the top of the third. 
Mason Calloway drew a walk and stole second. Calloway scored when 
Kyle Gerdts singled down the left field line to make the score 4-1.
UNF added another run in the fifth to increase their lead to 5-1. Jay Prather hit a solo home run for the Ospreys in the seventh and tacked on a RBI single in the eighth for a 7-1 advantage.
The Tigers left the bases loaded in the fourth inning and left runners in scoring position in the first, fifth and sixth innings. For the game, SSU stranded 11 runners on the basepads. 
Savannah State had seven hits in the contest and made one error. Gerdts and 
Freddie Landers both had two hits.
Tyler Robinson was the losing pitcher. Robinson lasted three innings on the mound, giving up four hits, four runs and two walks while recording three strikeouts.
Prather had two hits and drove in two runs for UNF while Chris Berry had two hits and scored twice. Cooper Bradford was the winning pitcher. Bradford pitched five innings in relief and struck out five while scattering three hits.
North Florida (19-19) had eight hits in the game.
The teams combined to leave 21 runners on base with SSU leaving 11 and the Ospreys leaving 10.
