Central Florida Sweeps SSU

ORLANDO, Fla.- Central Florida completed a three game sweep of Savannah State with a 15-4 win over the Tigers in a game played at John Euliano Park, before a crowd of 1,109.
The Knights outscored SSU 25-4 during the weekend series.
Rylan Thomas hit a RBI double for UCF in the first inning for a 1-0 lead. The Tigers committed two errors in the second inning as the Knights scored six runs off of four hits to increase their lead to 7-0.
Savannah State scored their first run of the series in the top of the fourth.
Kyle Gerdts led off with a single and crossed home plate on a wild pitch to make the score 7-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Matthew Mika hit a RBI double that upped UCF's advantage to 8-1.
SSU sliced their deficit in half in the fifth when Freddie Landers hit a three-run home run. Noah Orlando, who was hit by a pitch and Mason Calloway, who drew a walk, also scored.
Central Florida pulled away in the bottom of the fifth by scoring six times for a 14-4 lead.
Max Wood's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave the Knights a 15-4 lead.
Savannah State (2-5) ended the game with eight hits while making three errors. The Tigers also left nine runners on base.
Gerdts had a pair of singles for SSU.
Caleb Hill took the loss for the Tigers. Hill pitched three innings and surrendered seven hits, eight runs and five walks while striking out two. Spencer Gillis pitched two innings in relief and gave up five hits, six runs and three walks. Ian Concevitch went 2.2 innings and struck out three while giving up two hits, one run and one walk while Khalyd Cox lasted for one third of a inning and gave up one walk while recording one strikeout.
Mika went four-for-four for the Knights as the plate and drove in two runs while Ray Alejo had two hits and scored twice while  driving in three runs.
Jordan Spicer earned the win for UCF (4-3). Spicer, who was one of four Knight pitchers to take the hill, went 4.1 innings and gave up six hits, four runs and issued four walks while striking out one.
Central Florida had 24 hits in the contest and stranded 11 runners on base.
