SAVANNAH GA. – The Savannah State University men's and women's cross country teams seasons concluded on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championships.
The men's team placed in sixth overall in the 8k meet. Norfolk State won the meet followed by Maryland Eastern Shore, second and Bethune-Cookman, third.
The Tigers were led by Abbas Abbkar, a sophomore who finished in 21
st overall out of 73 runners and posted a time of 27:10.3. Sophomore,
Cameron Pack finished two spots behind in 23
rd place with a time of 27:11.6.
Other runners for the Tigers were:

Sahlu Atakilti (29
th), Terrence Sessoms (30
th) and Suhieb Mohamed (47
th).
The SSU women's team finished 12
th overall. Florida A&M Rattlers women's team won their sixth consecutive championship in the 5k race.
Senior,
Miara Elmore led the women's team by posting a time of 23:17.2 and finished in 58
th overall. Tyneisha Quarterman, a junior, finished three spots behind in 61
st place with a time of 23:46.7.
