WBB Wins Fourth Consecutive Game with a 64-57 win over Delaware State Monday

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior center Tiyonda Davis recorded her third double-double this season with a game-high 13 rebounds and added 11 points as the Savannah State University women's basketball team (6-13, 4-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) defeated Delaware State University (2-17, 1-5 MEAC) 64-57 in Tiger Arena Monday for the Lady Tigers fourth consecutive win. 
 
Davis shot a prefect 4-for-4 from the floor and added a game-high three blocks in 32 minutes, while senior guard Rhianna Warren added 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting with four rebounds, a game-high four steals and three assists.  Davis' three blocks gives her 63 blocks this season, which moves her into fifth most in school history in a single season in the Division I era.
 
Senior guard Kenyata Hendrix added 12 points, three assists and two rebounds, while graduate student guard Lauren "Gaby" Moss added 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists and senior forward Jeremica Edwards missed on a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. 
 
Delaware State scored seven of the first nine points of the game to take a five-point lead, 7-2, with 5:29 remaining in the first quarter, but the Lady Tigers scored 11 of the next 15 points to take a two-point lead, 13-11, with 1:14 left.  A Hornet 3-pointer with a second left gave DSU a point lead, 14-13, after the first quarter.
 
The Hornets scored the first four points of the second quarter to increase their lead to five points, 18-13, with 7:29 remaining in the quarter, but the Lady Tigers scored 16 of the next 18 points, including a 10-0 run, to take an eight-point lead, 28-20, with 57 seconds left.  Delaware State scored six of the final nine points to cut the SSU lead to five points, 31-26, at the half.
 
Savannah State opened the third quarter scoring 14 of the first 18 points to increase its lead to 15 points, 45-30, with 3:14 remaining in the quarter, but Delaware State scored eight of the next 13 points to cut the SSU lead to 12 points, 50-38, with 1:11 left.  The Lady Tigers scored four of the final five points to take a 15-point lead, 54-39, after the third quarter.
 
The Lady Tigers scored five of the first eight points of the fourth quarter to take a 17-point lead, 59-42, with 6:12 remaining in the quarter, but Delaware State scored 15 of the next 17 points to close within four points, 61-57, with 20 second left.  The Lady Tigers went 3-for-4 at the foul line to increase their lead to the final margin of seven points.
 
The Hornets were led by NaJai Pollard with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Mikah Aldridge added 12 points and Ivana Negron added nine points.
 
The Lady Tigers travel to Washington, D.C., to face Howard University (8-9, 4-1 MEAC) Saturday at 2 p.m.
