STATESBORO, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team (0-5) lost both matches Thursday at the Bash in the 'Boro.  The Lady Tigers started the tournament with a 3-0 (22-25, 11-25, 24-26) loss to The Citadel (3-1) and fell to Charleston Southern (2-3) 3-0 (18-25, 16-25, 14-25) Thursday. 
 
Senior setter Caitlynn Masoe led the team with 14 kills, five service aces and added 14 assists and 15 digs, while freshman outside hitter Dominic Ingraham added nine kills and four blocks in two matches.  Masoe recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 digs and 10 assists with six kills in the second match against Charleston Southern. 
 
Junior setter Alee Quint led the team with 22 assists, while senior libero Alexis Washington led the team with 30 digs in two matches. 
 
The Citadel 3, Savannah State 0
Masoe led the Lady Tigers with eight kills and added four assists, four service aces and five digs, while Dilworth added six kills and Ingraham recorded five kills.  Washington led the team with 16 digs and added four assists, while junior setter Alee Quint added 12 assists. 
 
Savannah State scored two of the first three points to capture a point lead, 2-1, in the first set, but The Citadel scored the two of the next three points to tie the match at three.  The Lady Tigers scored four of the next five points to capture a three-point lead, 7-4, but the Bulldogs scored nine of the next 12 points to take a three-point lead, 13-10.  The Lady Tigers scored five of the next six points to take a point lead, 15-14, but the Bulldogs outscored SSU 11-7 during the rest of the set to capture the three-point set win and to take a 1-0 match lead.   
 
The Lady Tigers scored the first two points of the second frame to capture a 2-0 lead after a kill from Dilworth and Ingraham, but The Citadel scored 10 of the next 11 points to take a seven-point lead, 10-3.  The Bulldogs outscored SSU 15-8 during the rest of the set to capture the 14-point set win and to take a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.   
 
With The Citadel leading 6-4 early in the final stanza, the Lady Tigers scored the next four points to take two-point lead, 8-6. Savannah State scored five of the next eight points to increase its lead to four, 13-9, but the Bulldogs scored the next five points to take a point lead, 14-13.  The Citadel increased its lead to three, 19-16, after outscoring SSU 5-3, but the Lady Tigers battled back scoring eight of the next 11 points to take a two-point lead, 24-22.  With set point for SSU, a Bulldog kill and back-to-back service aces gave The Citadel a point lead, 25-24.  A SSU attack error gave The Citadel the two-point set win and the match win. 
 
The Bulldogs were led by Carla Bruce and Moriah Smith with 10 kills each, Logan Smith with 24 assists and Samantha Espy with 12 digs. 
 
Charleston Southern 3, Savannah State 0
Masoe recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 assists and 10 digs and lead the team with six kills, while senior middle blocker Gabrielle Nathaniel added five kills and six digs and freshman outside hitter Dominic Ingraham added four kills on nine attacks with an error for a hitting percentage of .333. 
 
Junior setter Alee Quint added 10 assists, while senior libero Alexis Washington led the team with 14 digs. 
 
Savannah State scored the first point of the match to record a 1-0 lead in the first set, but Charleston Southern scored three of the next five points to tie the match at three.  The Lady Tigers recaptured the lead after back-to-back kills from Ingraham and Nathaniel gave SSU a two-point lead, 5-3.  CSU scored the next three points to take a point lead, 6-5.  With the set tied at nine, CSU scored the next three points to take a three-point lead, 12-9.  The Bucs outscored SSU 13-9 during the rest of the set to capture the seven-point set win and to take a 1-0 match lead.   
 
Charleston Southern scored 17 of the first 24 points to take a 10-point lead, 17-7 in the second frame, but the Lady Tigers battled back to close with six points, 20-14.  CSU outscored SSU 5-2 during the rest of the set to capture the nine-point set win and to take a 2-0 lead heading into intermission.
 
Savannah State scored four of the first five points in the final stanza to take a 4-1 lead, but Charleston Southern scored the 13 points to take a 10-point lead, 14-4.  The Lady Tigers scored six of the next seven points to cut the lead to five points, 15-10, but CSU outscored SSU 10-4 during the rest of the set
 
The Buccaneers were led by Brooke Monssen with 10 kills, Naiomi Rivera with 17 assists and Madison Martin with 30 digs. 
 
The Lady Tigers finish with the Bash in the 'Boro Friday with host Georgia Southern at 1 p.m. and Jacksonville State at 5 p.m.  SSU hosts its first home match on Sunday at 1 p.m. against East Carolina.
