NORFOLK, Va. – Savannah State junior
Simon Heyward was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This is the first MEAC Football Offensive Player of the Week award for Savannah State.
The 5-11 wide receiver from Savannah, Georgia caught six passes for 160 yards with three touchdowns in the Tigers 42-35 homecoming victory over Edward Waters University this past Saturday. Heyward leads SSU's receiving core with 27 catches for 535 yards, and five touchdowns on the season.
The win was Savannah State's first this year and the first in the newly renovated T.A. Wright Stadium.

Terrance Williams was an honorable mention in the Defense Player of the Week category with nine tackles, four solo, with one for a loss and forced, and recovered fumble.
