SSU Volleyball Team begins Pre-season Drills

Savannah, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team held its first practice of the 2010 season today, August 3 in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.

Twelve enthusiastic Lady Tigers reported to camp yesterday ready to work. Head coach Malik Jones expected today's 7:00 a.m. practice to be first of many that will mentally and physically prepare SSU for the 2010 volleyball season.
T
heir first practice consisted primarily of conditioning exercises. Jones focused on developing the Lady Tigers' endurance and strength to help build a more explosive and quicker team.

“Upperclassman Whitney Bullock's and Jennifer Lowe's early preparation for this season's hard core training paid off,” said Jones. “Bullock's and Lowe's intense focus during today's practice set the bar high, and motivated the team to work harder. Freshman Keidra Taylor was also impressive”.

The focus of the 2010 camp is player development. Jones is expecting the Lady Tigers to be more powerful on the court, and to improve their speed and passes before the first match.

SSU will begin its season on August 27 against Talladega College at 2 p.m. and Brewton Parker at 4 p.m. in Willcox Wiley.
