Amara Jones has qualified to run in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a strong performance at the East Regionals.
Jones qualified in the women's 400m after posting a time of 53.01 at the East Regionals held on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.
In the preliminaries, Jones ran 54.27 which was good enough to finish 4th in her heat and 19th overall.
In the semi-finals, Jones finished 2nd in her heat and 7th overall.
Jones also participated in the 200m race but failed to advance. Jones had a time of 23.96 and finished 6th in her heat and 25th in the preliminaries.
Sharonda Redfield participated in the women's triple jump and posted a leap of 12.47m to finish 22nd in the preliminaries.
Eric Plump ran in the men's 100m and 200m races. Plump had a time of 10.67 in the 100m race to finish 8th in his heat and 41st in the preliminaries. In the 200m race, Plump had a time of 22.09 to finish 7th in his heat and 45th in the prelims.
The NCAA National Meet will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon
