ATHENS, Ga.-
Amara Jones has set another school record. This time Jones set a new SSU record in the 200m race. Her time of 24.10 was good enough for 5th place while running in the Georgia Invitational at the Spec Towns Track on the UGA campus.
Jones set the school record in the women's 400m in April while running in the Florida relays.
At the UGA Invitational,
Aleah Hordges placed second in the women's 400m race while
Amara Jones.
SSU had a total of 11 top 10 finishes.
Hordges had a time of 56.64 while Jones was timed at 56.66.
For the SSU women, Jones (24.10) was 6th in the 200m followed by Hordges (25.28) who was 14th and
Kendra Carter (25.44) who was 16th.
Sharonda Redfield (24.45m) was 5th in the triple jump.
Eric Plump (10.52) was 4th in the men's 100m race while
Darrius Baker (10.78) was 9th; Plump was 5th in the 200m race with a time of 21.36 while Baker finished 10th with a run of 21.62;
Tyrone McCoy (1:57.96) was 7th in the 800m;
Ruben Isreal-McBee (9:09.27) was 4th in the 3000m; and Shawn Sovnenir (14.29m) was 6th in the triple jump.
Jones (200m), Hordges (200m/400m), Carter (200m), Plump (100m), Baker (200m) and Isreal-McBee (3000m) all had personal best performances at the meet in their events.
