SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State women's track team placed second in the SSU Tiger Relays ran at T. A. Wright Stadium.
South Carolina State won the seven team event with 219.5 points. SSU was second with 137.5 and Benedict was third with 83.
As a team, the Lady Tigers amazed 27 top 10 finishes.
SSU won three events, finished second in three events and placed third on five occasions.
Nakisha Thompson won the 100m hurdles (14.86), Alisha Nelson won the high jump (5-3) and the 4x400m relay team (3:52.49) of
Kendra Carter,
Aleah Hordges,
Amber Hughes and
Amara Jones won their race.
Jones was second in the 400m race (55.65),
Mekela Martin was second in the 400m hurdles (1:06.38) and the 4x200m relay team (Hordges, Jones, Carter and Hughes) placed second with a time of 1:41.97.
Finishing third were
Latasha Wright in the 400m hurdles (1:08.08), the 4x100m relay team (48.92),
Sharonda Redfield in the triple jump (12.03m), Hughes in the long jump (5.30m) and Brittney Dean in the shot put (11.08m).
