SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State sophomore forward
Rashad Hassan has been named to the 2010 All-Independent Men's Basketball Team.
The 6-7 Riverdale, Georgia native averaged 11 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during the 2009-10 season.
He led the team with 23 blocks.
Hassan scored a career-high 26 points against Western Illinois on January 4 and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds against Carver on February 26.
The computer engineering major was a All-Independent Honorable Mention pick during the 2008-09 season as a freshman.
Seattle forward Charles Garcia has been selected as Player of the Year, Seattle head coach Cameron Dollar is the Coach of the Year, and North Carolina Central guard C.J. Wilkerson was picked as the Newcomer of the Year in voting by both the Independent head coaches and sports information directors.
