SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Sharonda Redfield won the women's triple jump and the SSU 4x400m relay team won their even to pace Savannah Sate to a first place finish in the SSU Eyeopener held at T. A. Wright Stadium.
Redfield had a leap of 38'6 in the triple jump while the 4x400m relay team of
Aleah Hordges,
Mekela Martin,
Amber Hughes and
Amara Jones won with a time of 4:10.44.
Jones placed second in the 200m race with a time of 26.15 and also finished second in the 400m race thanks to a run of 58.53.
In the 100m hurdles,
Nakisha Thompson was third with a time of 16.28.
Latasha Wright was second in the 400m hurdles with a run of 1:07.99 and
Monique Harrison was third with a time of 1:11.51.
SSU finished second and third in the 4x100m relay race. Team one (Hordges, Jones,
Kendra Carter and Hughes) had a time of 49.38 while team two (Harrison, Martin,
Natasha Jackson and Ashley Johnson) had a time of 50.89.
Hughes finished second in the long jump with a leap of 16'7.75” while Brittney Dean was third in the shot put with a throw of 39'3.5.
Hughes was second in the triple jump with a jump of 38'2 and Johnson placed third with a leap of 35'3.
Savannah State finished with 129 points followed by Albany State who had 110.5 and and Bethune-Cookman who placed third with 106.5 points.
