MONTGOMERY, Al.- The Savannah State women's golf team opened the fall season with a fifth place finish at the Alabama State Fall Classic played at Lagoon Park Golf Course.
SSU shot 447 on the first day of action but improved their score to 429 in the second round to finish with a score of 876.
Vonnetta Epps paced Savannah State by shooting 103 on day one but improved to 99 on day two with a final score of 202 to finish 17th.
Cassie Standard was 21st with a 208 (109+99) followed by
Brittany Wilson who shot 222 (117+105) to finish 22nd, Christanna Cambrite who shot 244 (118+126) to place 23rd and
Brittany Chretien who finished 24th with a 272 (138+134).
Spring Hill won the event by shooting 338 the opening round and 337 on day two to finish with a 665.
Low medalist honors went to Alabama State's Aileen Meredith and Tennessee State's Jamie Pierce who both shot 157.
