HAMPTON, Va.-
Sharonda Redfield claimed fifth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.51m at the inaugural Hampton Invitational hosted by Hampton University at the Boo Williams Sportsplex on January 23 & 24.
Redfield also placed 12th in the long jump (5.10m) and 36th in the 200m (28.63).
In the women's 400m race,
Amara Jones (59.55) was eighth while
Mekela Martin (59.84) was 16th,
Victoria Burch (1:01.38) was 19th and
Monique Harrison (1:02.71) was 24th).
Jones finished 13th in the 800m race with a time of 2:29.91. Martin was 26th in the 200m with a time of 27.68 and the 4x400m "A" relay team placed sixth with a time of 4:00.91.
For the SSU men, Chris Blount was sixth in the triple jump (14.61m) and 15th in the long jump ( 6.65m).
Darrell McElroy (6.62m) was 17th in the long jump and
Jamario Parks (6.54m) was 20th.
Parks was 18th in the triple jump with a leap of 13.23m.
In the men's 400m,
Vernon Williams (50.55) was eighth and
Joseph Ferguson (51.04) was 14th.
Gabriel Davis (4:54.76) was 20th in the one mile run while Ruben Isreal-McBee (5:04.05) finished 22nd.
Tyrone McCoy (2:01.61) finished 12th in the 800m race. In the 200m,
Eric Plump (23.54) was 26th followed by
Jonathan Loadholt( 23.75) who was 32nd,
Charles Huggins (23.82) who was 34th and
Brandon Norman (24.02) who placed 43rd.
The men's 4x400m "A" relay team was 13th with a time of 3:28.42 and in the 60m hurdles
Marcus Stallworth (8.37) was ninth, Norman (8.68) was 16th and
Aaron Whitaker (8.89) was 16th.
