Tiger Baseball Signs One During Early Period

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University head baseball coach Carlton Hardy has announced the signing of Damian K. Phillips to a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Tigers in 2010.
Phillips, a native of Warner Robins, Ga. is currently a senior at Houston County High School where he is an outfielder on the baseball team.
Last season at Houston County, Phillips was a 2009 Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-American honorable mention selection and was ranked nationally in the Top 400 by Perfect Game.
Phillips batted .333 with a .600 slugging percentage and hit two homeruns in 2009 and batted .353 with a .706 slugging percentage and hit four home runs in 2008. He made the All-Region 1-AAAAA team in 2008 and 2009.
Philips played with the Chain Baseball team and Team Elite team during the offseason.
Phillips (6-3, 195) is the son of Leon and Debbie Phillips.
